I know that it is almost impossible to calculate evaporation but I need to knop if my situation is in the normal range given the variables. My pond is only two months old. It is a 1600 gallon pond with a waterfall over several stages. The waterfall cascade and lip surface area is Oklahoma river stone. There is a small amount of splash at the top of the waterfall where the cascade starts and a larger amount at bottom where the water falls 2 feet to the pond. The waterfall gets full sun and I loose about 20 to 40 gallons everyday depending on the temperature and humidity plus wind. I don't think I have a leak because when I turn off the pump the water level goes down only 1/3 of when the 1500 gph pump is going. The surface area is 10x7 in the pond area with about a 4ft by 2ft cascade and a 3ft by 4ft flat waterfall lip before dropping to the pond. Surrounding the waterfall pond is a 50ft by 55ft concrete pavestone patio with no shade. Is this normal evaporation for a waterfall in my area? I live just outside Terrell Texas.
