I live in Austin as well. I have a 2000 gal pond which has a waterfall over several steps, but relatively little splashing, except into the main pond itself. I lose about 1" per week, which in gallons is probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 to 100. I can always tell if I have a leak because the loss goes way up. In the heat of summer, it might go up a bit, but not much more. And I still think there might be a tiny leak in some of the plumbing, so you might do better for yourself. I get about 50% sun throughout the day, with tree cover.
