There is a timer hardwired into the wall outlet that is linked to the lights (which haven't been lit for a long time). It has a sliding bar on it. Interesting enough, all your comments regarding the electrical work led us to some experimenting. When we used an extension cord and plugged into an old deck outlet, we did not have any problem with one of the pumps. However when we tried the same thing on the other pump it kicked out the GFI on that outlet and stopped running again. We couldn't try the extension cord on the outlet that was installed by the electrical contractor because the GFI is popped out and will not go back in (this is the outlet with the light timer on it). We have the electrician coming out again on Monday because it's beginning to look like the electrical is somehow the source of all our problems. The mystery isn't solved yet, but at least we have some solid input from all of you about what to look into. Thanks.
