I'm interested in building a pond for fish and plants in my herb garden. I have cleared a space about 9' X 12' oblong. I am not sure how to get started on this project.
What type of liner? I read on your site that EPDM 40 mil is good. Is that better than a hard plastic liner?
I think I want the pond about 3' to 4' deep with 1' wide plant ledges. How deep should they be?
The pond will be in the sun. I want to surround it with flat rocks and try to keep cats from pawing the fish out. Will algae be a consideration? What to do about that. Also, how do I keep coons and cats out of the pond?
I read about how to figure number of gallons by reading your meter before and after fill-up. What about filters? How do I research those?
I would like to have a simple water feature also. Maybe just an elevated rock section with water streaming over it.
I guess I will also have to run electricity out to the pond, which is a bit of a problem because I have existing paths and herb beds to go through. I don't suppose there are alternatives?
Can anyone recommend good suppliers to contact and/or books to read. Even better, any advice you can give me based on experience?
