EPDM is the best liner out there most if not all are 45 mil. I would not build in plants ledges if you even think you have raccoons! Coons will not get into the pond if they can't touch the bottom, make the sides of the pond stright down.
Do you live around here? (Austin). If is was building a pond today and did not know where to start I would contact Janet, with Mermaid House, her ad is on the web page, She can be a big help, in all areas of pond building.
