How large are these tubs? Why do you feel they need a pump? I have an old wash tub (probably 30 gallons) that have plants, 2 goldfish and gambusia in it without any pump at all (have had it for 7 years). Also have smaller water gardens with just gambusia and plants without pumps. There are some plants that act as oxygenators such as anacharis that I have in these tubs. If you don't put in something like gambusia (also called mosquito fish), then you will get mosquitos in there unless you do have some sort of circulation. Hope this gives some help!
