I just figured it would be a healthier system with a bit of circulation. The tubs are the typical round washtubs. I have no gambusia so have used mosquito dunks but would love to have some gambusia----Does anyone have any they are willing to share?
What other plants are oxygenators? I will look up the anacharis that you mentioned.
Should I keep adding water periodically to keep the water level up? I have been doing that after I have let the water sit a few days.
