I have the Savio skimmer and biofilter. They are a bit more expensive, but they are more sturdy and overall a better design. Given the cost/hassle of changing out the filter if there are problems, I felt the Savio's extra cost was worth it.
I have the model with the pipe opening, as opposed to the wier opening. The pipe opening can't carry as much flow, but gives you some flexibility in the overall design. Hope this helps,
