Austin Pond Tour 2025
Jorge and David's Pond

Jorge & David

Owner-built, 1250 gallon pond, waterfalls, bonsai, lighting, chickens. Expansive scale model of a European or Moroccan Village complete with waterfalls and small lakes. Accessible.

Jorge and David's pond was by Jorge about nine years ago, and it seems to change every few weeks. Roughly fifteen feet by fifteen feet, it varies in depth from two to four feet; it has multiple waterfalls and a running stream. It is home to many beautiful koi and goldfish and at night the lighting around the pond and throughout the property is pure magic.

This will be the third time on the pond tour, but each time is different as the only thing constant about this garden is that it is always changing. Unique to this pond is the entire miniature village that Jorge has constructed as a background, but which now fills the entire backyard. In December, he populates the village with handmade figures, painstakingly constructed buildings and vignettes to create a mini-Jerusalem and Nativity. Also of interest are the many bonsai plants, the aviary with parakeets, and the newest addition to the menagerie, miniature chickens.

A master example of folk art, this pond and garden is truly one of a kind; it has been featured on local news programs and Central Texas Gardener, as well as in the American Statesman. Words cannot truly express what an amazing site this is, and it is one that should not be missed.
